Be Immovable

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV) 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Right now, more than ever, the world’s emotions are on a roller coaster ride. One day it looks like we are going to find a breakthrough and the next another crisis is discovered. We as a collective people are on edge, and rightfully so. But, we are called to be steadfast and immovable. How do we remain steadfast as the world is in such turmoil? Always abounding in the work of the Lord. Immovable & Steadfast It is very important that the world sees us in a very different light than itself. The first step is obviously our attitude. Our attitude should display love. We should be loving the world as it goes through this tribulation. As importantly though, we must show a certain resolve. But where does that resolve come from? This Is Not Our Reward The Lord can certainly bless us while we are here on this earth, and I am certainly glad He does, but this was never intended to be our reward. Our reward is eternal. Our eyes should be continually focused on the eternal instead of the present. If our focus was on the present, we could lose sight of the eternal promise. James 4:14 offering… (14) whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away… If this life is but a vapor in comparison with eternity, why would we put our focus here? If our focus remains on God’s eternal promise we can experience steadfastness. Abound In The Work Of The Lord Whether we live one more day of sixty more years, we should be continually seeking the Lord’s work. That may be reaching out to a friend with questions, that may be going to third world countries, or that may just be comforting a brother or sister. Whatever the Lord has you doing, it is for a reason and it will not be done in vain. The world needs to see our immovable nature. Psalm 89:26 (26) He shall cry to Me, ‘You are my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation.’ If Jesus is our rock, He will give us the strength to be steadfast through this storm. The world must see that we cannot be shaken! Closing Thoughts: If Jesus is the cornerstone in which we build this life, we should rightfully have a steadfastness, an immovable nature. Turn to the Lord for the strength to show the world why we have resolve and why we have hope! Psalm 130:5 (NKJV) 5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope.
