Come And Taste

Psalm 34:8 (NKJV)

8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;

Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

I was never really exposed to a lot of different foods growing up, my father was a meat and potatoes type of guy so by default, I was too. I really did not like anything that was green… well to be fair, I hated anything green. At the age of 30, my wife and friends forced me to try guacamole. It was green, it did not look or smell like something I would like at all. “Just taste it” my wife urged… my life changed instantly as that creamy goodness first hit my taste buds. Okay, maybe that is a little dramatic, but it was actually really good! Fast forward a few years later and I am putting guacamole on just about anything. I firmly believe the world would love the Lord if it were to taste what life with Him could be!

Give The World A Taste

The world loves Christ, it just does not know it yet. We are given an example of godly living in Ephesians 4:32… (32) And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you… Unbelievers are probably not going to walk through the church doors randomly, so we have to take Christ to them! We must show them the love of Christ through our actions. Those actions start with being kind to one another, progress to tenderheartedness, and grow into genuine forgiveness. If our unbelieving friends are not going to come to Christ, the only way they are going to experience His goodness is to take Him to them, give them a little taste.

Invite Them In

I think inviting someone to church is one of the most thoughtful, loving things we can do. We have found Christ, we have been changed, we have been delivered, and now we want others to experience the same thing we have! Is there anything more loving than that? Why then is it so hard to just offer that simple invitation? We must see past the difficulty, the fear of rejection, and utter the very difficult words “would you like to come to church Sunday?”

Everyone Wants To Be Blessed

Ask anyone whether they want to be blessed or cursed and most of them would say blessed. I am fairly certain of the previous statement, I suppose there could be someone that likes to be cursed but they are very few and far between. We all love to be blessed. We are promised a blessing if we simply trust in Him. I am sure if you have walked with the Lord any amount of time, you have probably been blessed many more times than you deserve. There is no greater testimony than to tell others of your many blessings.

Closing Thoughts:

The world only needs a taste of Christ to see and experience His goodness.

Exodus 34:6 (NKJV)

6 And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,
