1 John 5:4 (NKJV) 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
How much easier would it be if we knew the outcome before going through anything? If you start feeling sick but knew for 100% sure that is was nothing more than a cold, it would be easy to persevere. Coaching would be easy if you knew what the score was going to be before ever stepping on the floor. Of course, this is not how things go in real life, right? We do not know for sure what our sickness is, and we are not going to know what the final score of any game is going to be. For the believer, however, one thing is sure, we will overcome the world. What an amazing promise! It is a promise that we can sometimes overlook or take for granted though. When things are not going our way, when life is giving us all we can handle, do we really rely on the fact that in the end, we will be victorious? Whatever Is Born Of God Overcomes The World If we believe in faith, that Jesus came to earth, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and was resurrected in victory over death, we too will experience that same victory. I love winning, so when I see verses like this it really gets me excited about what the Lord is doing for us and through us. What does it take to come to this victorious faith? Faith Comes From Hearing The moment you come to know the Lord is just the beginning of your faith-filled journey with Him. In that very moment, salvation is secured. There is not a level of faith you must grow to in order to secure salvation. Once you believe, you are in, it is fairly simple. But, to come to a steadfast faith, that takes some additional work. Romans 10:17 reminds us… (17) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God… Faith, true life-changing, deep faith comes from hearing the word of God. It is a funny thing, the deeper and deeper you get into the Bible, the more and more you come to understand just how these 66 books work perfectly together to give us a view of the past, perspective for the present, and confidence for the future. Dedicate yourself to deep and continued study of God’s word and watch your faith grow! All Have Fallen Short But Not For Long Unfortunately, Romans 3:23 provides us with an absolute truth… (23) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God… We have ALL fallen short, not just some, not just a few, we have ALL fallen short. Through Jesus and Jesus alone will we have victory over sin. Romans 3:23 paints a sad picture but Romans 10:13 gives us victorious hope… (13) For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” Whoever calls... me, you, everyone! In the end, no matter what the past looks like, no matter the struggles of the present… faith wins! Closing Thoughts: We are going through uncertain times, we can either be plagued with fear, or we can live in victorious hope. I do now know what tomorrow will bring, but I know how my story is going to end. When we know how our story ends and have faith in it, this world is a lot less scary. Live today in the hope of Christ our Lord! Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
