Matthew 15:8 (NKJV)
8 ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
During a time like this, we can usually do one of two things, either draw close to the Lord or allow ourselves to be pulled away. Unfortunately, when we need Him most is often the times we stray away. As our nation and the world as a whole go through unprecedented times it is important that we avoid the tendency to pull away from the Lord, and instead run to Him with absolute faith that He will be there to comfort, guide, and lead us back to the cross.
Draw Near With The Mouth And Honor Me With Their Lips
The Lord is talking about good old lip service. Can we not be like that? We absolutely can. Talk is cheap as they may say. We can be believers that speak glowing words about the Lord for the world to hear, or we can speak genuinely to our Father. The unbelieving world must see us, see our faith, see our trust, the world does not need our empty words. Speak to your friends and family, even strangers, but do so with sincerity. The world is going to be able to spot a fake from a mile away.
Their Heart Is Far From Me
What a terrible place to be in. The Lord who has a wonderful plan for us wants our whole heart. He wants us to love Him with everything we have. Deuteronomy 4:29 reminds us... (29) But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul… The Lord does not want to play second to anything. Does He deserve it? Look at what He has done for you, the answer is very clearly, yes!
Navigate through this worldwide pandemic with the Lord by your side instead of a prayer away!
These are trying times, and it is likely to get a little worse before it gets better. Throughout all of the struggles, we must place our faith, love, and trust in the hands of our great and mighty Lord.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV)
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
