Psalm 139:1 NIV
1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
Have you ever felt misunderstood? Have you ever felt like there’s no one who gets what you’re going through? No one who understands the feelings you have? This life can become really lonely when we feel misunderstood.
People may not understand your situation, but there is a God who does. Every feeling we’ve ever had, every thought, and every action we’ve ever taken, He knows it all. And guess what? He still loves us. He loves every bit of us.
Psalm 139 is the scripture you should turn to when you’re having these feelings. It tells us several important things about our God:
Verse 2 – You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
Verse 4 – Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
Verse 7-8 – Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
Verse 16 – Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Just from these verses alone, we can realize how much our God knows us. He knows the words we will speak before we say them. He knows our thoughts. Therefore, we know that when no one else understands us, the God of all creation does. He knows all of our days before we have come to be in this world. When we are feeling lonely, we can know we are never alone. In verse 7, David writes that he cannot flee from the presence of God no matter where he goes. This is the same for us.
Our God knows us better than anyone and loves us more than anyone. Take comfort in being fully known and loved by God today.
1 Corinthians 8:3 NIV
3 But whoever loves God is known by God.
