Genuine Faith

2 Timothy 1:5 (NKJV)

5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.

Genuine faith can truly change the world. That may be a significant statement, but it is one I truly believe. If you have genuine faith and allow the world to see it, people will be changed. We can make an impact upon the lives of those around us by simply living out our faith in front of the unbelieving world. But, the faith we broadcast to the world must be genuine and without even a hint of being fake or filled with hypocrisy.

This Is My Faith

Paul explains to Timothy that his faith must be his own. This is important to remember, especially with younger believers. We see Timothy’s mother and grandmother living out their genuine faith in front of Him, but Paul reminds him that the same faith must be in him as well. Genuine faith is not passed through bloodlines but through a true relationship with Jesus Christ. As parents, we can demonstrate the love we have for the Lord, but we cannot pass it down directly. Maybe you have been tagging along to church with your parents for years, maybe you have experienced the relationship your friends have with the Lord, but until you seek a personal relationship with the Lord, you will not be able to demonstrate genuine faith. If you have not already, seek a relationship with the Lord today!

I Am Persuaded Is In You

Do people know you are a Christian? Do people know what you believe? Paul offering Timothy a wonderful bit of encouragement by basically saying that he sees the way Timothy is living life and it is evident that he has genuine faith. Is there really anything anyone could say about us that would be any better than that? Thinking about that in the reverse, how would you react if a close friend were to try to evangelize to you? Wouldn’t that be the worst? If we truly have a relationship with the Lord, it should be very clear to those around us.

Be The Light

Matthew 5:16 reminds us… (16) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven… Let your genuine faith shine so bright that it is unmistakable. If you want to help change this world, it starts with genuine faith.

Closing Thoughts:

The world needs to see and experience true genuine faith, let your genuine faith shine bright!

1 Peter 1:7 (NKJV)

7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
