Psalm 16:8 (NKJV)
8 I have set the Lord always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Sometimes the things we do in the world do not make a lot of sense, like pushing the buttons on the television remote harder when the batteries are almost dead. Like that little bit of extra pressure is going to resurrect the previously dead batteries. Or maybe you have those stubborn batteries that need a little convincing. Either way, it is not going to help at all. Tell me you don’t do that and I will tell you that you need to repent. Honestly, we do silly stuff. By far the dumbest thing we can do is go through this life without the Lord at our right hand. Yes, you have a relationship with the Lord, I get that, but do you really rely on the power He yields?
I Got This
If you are anything like me, you will try and try at something until finally, you have to pray about it. I cannot tell you how many times I have struggled with this or that only to “succumb” to the idea that I need help. The Lord has been faithful to answer every time. It does not matter if I am struggling with sermon prep or a household project, I wait until everything goes wrong before asking my Father for help.
We have to move past the idea of having everything under control and move towards dependence upon Him. Philippians 4:6 reminds us… (6) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God… He knows our needs, He knows our struggles, we must turn to Him through prayer, with thanksgiving, in faith that He will provide for our needs.
He Is Our Strength
One of my favorite verses is Philippians 4:13, as it reminds us where our strength comes from. With that strength, we can do all things. That sermon, no problem when it is through His wisdom. That project around the house, not an issue when depending upon His strength. We have an amazing God that allows us to yield His power, His wisdom, His mercy, His grace, and His love. If we have access to all of that, why do we depend upon our own abilities… it is as silly as pushing harder on that remote.
I Shall Not Be Moved
What a powerful verse we are given in Psalm 62:6... (6) He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved… If He is our rock, our salvation, and our defense, how can we be shaken?
We do some pretty silly stuff, but the silliest thing we can do is walk through this dreadful world without the power and strength of the Lord at our right hand. As powerful and influential as David was, he understood that he needed the Lord’s strength and wisdom. Push through this life not under your own power, but through His!
Romans 8:31 (NKJV)
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
