Joshua 1:9 (NKJV) 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
What a powerful reminder, the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Do we live in that power? Do we stand in appreciation of this? Do we truly believe this to be the case? I think it is amazing that it says wherever you go… literally, wherever! When I go to fight the lines at Walmart for a few rolls of toilet paper, He is there. When I workout… well He is not there, but to be fair, neither am I. But seriously, He is with us always! Rise, Fall, Rise Again I have told the story several times on this devotional about my salvation, so I will not get too much into that. But, the Lord put me into my dream job very quickly after saving me. It was less than a week into my salvation and I was offered an athletic administrator position at a local Christian school. Long story short, the school ran into financial troubles and my position was essentially cut. I was very confused as to what the Lord was doing. He gave me the position of my dreams, I excelled in it, and then just like that, it was over. I left that position questioning everything. Longer story shorter, I ended up meeting someone at the next job that would offer me a position with a startup marketing company… almost 10 years later, I am still there. In my darkest moment, when I did not know what the Lord was doing, He was there. I firmly believe He orchestrated each and every step. Use The Tribulation To Increase Your Faith I would love to say that I remained faithful throughout the entire process, but I can’t. I floundered a little, not to the point of backsliding, but there was definite questioning going on. Through this experience, I have learned to trust the Lord in all things. When I am facing tribulation, I have started to look at it from another angle. Instead of looking at how the Lord can get me out of whatever situation I find myself in, I try to figure out what I can learn from it and how this is going to strengthen my faith in Him. Just that little change in perspective has made a huge impact on my walk. Live As Though He Is By Your Side We are reminded in Isaiah 41:10 (10) Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand… If we truly live as though He is by our side, how can we live in fear? If we believe He will strengthen us, how can we be weak? How can we fail when He has promised to hold us up? Philippians 4:13 encourages… (13) I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me… Do we live in that strength? There From Start To Finish There are specific instances where I can honestly say that I believe the Lord was there for me well before I ever knew Him. There were close calls, there were times when I listened to my “inner thought” that kept me out of trouble, there was a constant presence that I could not explain. We are promised that He will continue to be there for us and with us until we make our triumphant journey home. How amazing is that. If this devotional were a Psalm, I would put a selah right there. Stop, pause, think about that! Closing Thoughts: Are we living in the assurance that we have been given? We have the Lord of hosts standing by our side, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End! If He is for us, who can be against us? Matthew 28:20 (NKJV) 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
