Romans 10:14 (NKJV)
14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
Admittedly, I do not watch a lot of game shows anymore, but, as a child, they were a staple. We would sit and watch several game shows together as a family, my favorite being The Price Is Right & Wheel of Fortune. I would sit there and get so frustrated because I knew the answer and the person on the actual game show would guess and guess without a clue. Witnessing can be a lot like watching the Wheel of Fortune, we have the answer as the unbelieving world stands there without a clue, even though God has made himself known.
The question remains, how then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? That is where we come in. God is gracious in allowing us to be His witness. He is depending on us to reach those people so that can they put the pieces together to solve the salvation puzzle. The simplicity of this verse is remarkable, yet so full of truth. If a person does not believe, why should they call on Him? We must be continually focused on showing the world the invisible attributes the Lord has already placed in front of us, no reason to buy a vowel because the Lord gives these clues away for free.
So we established the lunacy in wondering why non-believers do not call upon God when they do not know Him. It is equally as crazy to think that people are going to come to believe if they have not heard of Him. Matthew 28:19 tells us to… Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. I think we sometimes get so wrapped up in the “make disciples of all nations” part that we fail to focus on those on our nation. Not that mission work lacks value, but, we should be making the same effort within our borders as well. There are people that are literally standing next to you each and every day that do not call upon the Lord because they do not know Him. There are people in your city that have not come to the Lord in complete surrender. There are unsaved souls in the very state in which you live. There are countless people throughout our country that need the hope of salvation.
We are being called to bring the Lord here, there and everywhere. It is our responsibility to spread the Gospel that everyone may come to know the Lord, that all shall come to repentance. Mission work is absolutely awesome. I have a dear friend that is taking a group to Hawaii to spread the Gospel, I pray continually that there is fruit in that mission. They have heard the call clearly, have developed a plan, and because of their labor, those that previously did not know the Lord, will now be able to call upon Him. It is an absolutely beautiful thing. Pray each day that the Lord places someone in your presence, and witness in faith, knowing that His Word will not return void.
There is a lost and dying world out there, one that either does not know the Lord, or that has flat out rejected His promise. It should be our goal to lead that world through faith to a saving understanding of our great God!
1 Timothy 2:4 (NKJV)
4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
