Is There Evidence You Have Been Changed?

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

First off, let me just say… God is so good! That, of course, is how we should start each day. We should wake up giving glory to Him because He is so very good. Romans 5:8 reminds us... (8) But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us… The Creator of heaven and earth loves us so much that He sent Christ to die for us, even when we absolutely did not deserve it. That love that He has for us should lead to a changed heart, a delivered soul, and a very different outlook on life and eternity.

The Old Things Have Passed Away

We have done a few devotionals that demonstrated the fact that the old man has passed away but it is worth talking about again. Each of us, no matter how long we have been a Christian, has a past. For some of us, the past is not so bad, others, well maybe we just do not like to discuss what our past looks like. There is hope through Christ no matter what our past looks like. The past in God’s eyes have been forgiven and forgotten. Does your life reflect that forgiveness?

The New Creation Is Here

If Christ has changed your heart and soul, your life should look vastly different than it did in the past. Things of the flesh that once dominated your life should be left behind. We should reflect the Lord more and more as we get to know Him and experience Him. We should be striving for a Christlike appearance.

The best thing anyone could say to me at this point in my walk with the Lord is that I am not the person I once was. If anyone were to say that to me, I would take it as a compliment. Romans 1:28–32 tells us exactly where we are at without Christ...(28) And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; (29) being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, (30) backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, (31) undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; (32) who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

The world should look at us and see the opposite of those characteristics in the verses above. If that is where the world is at, we are called to be the total opposite. We are called to love and that should be the difference the world sees. Does the outside world see evidence that the Lord has indeed changed you? A powerful question that we all must answer honestly.

Closing Thoughts:

The world needs to see Christlike believers now more than ever. Do not allow yourself to conform to the world, the lusts, the anger, the fear, the wickedness, instead, be transformed but the renewing of your mind and prove what is good and acceptable.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
