1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV)
18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Whatever you are doing today, give thanks for it. If you are on vacation, be thankful for it. If you are working, thank God for the provision. If you are a stay at home mom, be thankful for it. In everything, we should be offering continual thanks for what the Lord is doing… even on Mondays.
Be Thankful For His Mercy
Psalm 107:1 offers us the following… (1) Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever… Think about that for one moment, His mercy endures forever. No matter how far we stray away, no matter how many times we may disappoint Him, His mercy endures through it all. No amount of sin can surpass the amount of mercy the Lord is willing to provide. That is certainly something to be thankful for.
Be Thankful For Good Gifts
James 1:17 reminds us of the gifts the Lord provides… (17) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning… How true is this? If we truly think about the gifts the Lord provides, they are very good gifts. Of course, salvation is at the top of this list, but truly take the time to think about the good gifts He has provided over the course of your walk and give thanks for them!
Be Anxious For Nothing
Philippians 4:6 encourages us to… (6) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God… He is merciful, He provides good gifts, so we should naturally be anxious for nothing. We know that the Lord will take good care of us, so that should lead to a trust so strong that we are anxious for nothing.
Do Everything In The Name Of The Lord
Colossians 3:17 reminds us… (17) And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him… Even on Mondays, we should be doing everything to please the Lord, doing those things in His name should encourage us to do them well!
Monday’s are tough for everyone, no matter the situation. We must always be thankful for what the Lord is doing, the mercy He provides, the gifts He gives, without being anxious, doing everything we do in the name of the Lord. Today is another Monday the Lord has provided… let’s make the best of it with a thankful heart!
Colossians 3:15 (NKJV)
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
