My Testimony

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

One of the things that have intrigued me the most in my 15 years of following Christ is how different everyone’s testimony is. I have spoken to people that have known Christ from a very early age and never departed. I have met people that had lost everything they own while battling addiction then came to the Lord when they hit rock-bottom and now lead successful ministries. You name the situation and I have talked to someone that has made a connection with Christ through that tribulation. I truly do love hearing how Christ impacts everyone. If you would be willing… please visit our Facebook page and share your testimony under this devotional, it just may inspire someone in your same exact situation! Growing Up Growing up I was not exposed to church very often. I would go to the Catholic church with my uncle, I went to church with my grandmother a few times, but certainly nothing consistent enough to understand who Christ was. I believe as far as most things go, I was a pretty good kid. My parents instilled a good moral compass, something I am very grateful for to this day! In high school I was the typical athlete, completely dedicated to sports and girls a close second. Academics would have been somewhere on that list, high enough to keep me eligible but low enough to get me in trouble. I think I was a pretty typical teenager. I am very proud to say that I never did any drugs and seldom drank either. It is funny, I was a pretty good kid but I still knew deep down inside that I was missing the mark. When I Met Him! I love my wife more than anything, I am completely dedicated to her and will be until the day I go home. But, that first year of marriage is always tough as you get to know how to live with someone else. We fought about this or that quite often. With a child on the way, I knew I had to do better. I remember plain as day praying to the Lord one evening. It really was the first time I had ever even tried. I said something along the lines of “God if you are up there, I really need to know how to be a better husband and a good father.” I went to bed that night and had a dream, clear as day, I saw Jesus’ face and in the dream, He said: “you need to find the way.” The next morning I told my wife, and she insisted we find out what it meant. I was hesitant and told her not to tell anyone. We worked at the same dealership and it wasn’t more than 20 minutes into the day and my friend Dave comes running up to my office. He explained what was being said, pulled out his Bible and showed me there in red letters “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” I was absolutely stunned. It instantly made all the sense in the world to me. This was so very real. God Is So Good I think that story would be pretty crazy as it sits, but what happened next was equally awesome, well in my mind anyway. So, I go from not knowing the Lord, to now having visual proof right in front of me and then a days later, I was saved and offered an administrative role at a Christian school. To say I have never had another week like that would be a massive understatement. The Lord placed me as an athletic administer, my dream job, within days of knowing Him. He Is There Through The Trial The four years I was at that school were some of the greatest years I had in the coaching and teaching world. The teams were never very good, but the kids were just amazing to work with. That dream came to an abrupt end as the school faced financial troubles. There was a local pastor that was willing to take on my responsibilities as a volunteer, I cannot blame the school as I would have never been able to match that salary. So, the dream ended, and I began to question. I had no clue why God would give me such a position only to take it away a few years later. The economy at the time was dreadful and instead of collecting unemployment at the end of the summer I took a management job at a convenience store. While I met people that I still call friends today, at the time I just could not imagine why the Lord had put me there. I wish I could say I held strong in my faith, but I was constantly questioning why He was doing what He was doing. The situation became worse as the district manager told me I would be transferring to a new store 30 minutes away. I absolutely hated life. One day as I was talking with a customer, I asked, “do you ever work, you are in here all the time.” Well, a couple of weeks later that guy offered me a position at a marketing company. Almost 10 years later, I still work there and still call that man a friend. So as I questioned Him, He was faithful to have a plan and reward me at the end of this journey even through my disbelief. God is so good! What He Is Doing Now The Lord is doing so many wonderful things in my life, to talk about them would be borderline boastful so I will not get too much into that. Sufficient to say that He is doing awesome things in me and I know that He will continue to do them into the future. Jesus has truly changed everything in my life. I say all this not to boast in it, but to give others the hope He has so graciously given to me. I want to see everyone come to the Lord, if my story helps at all in it, amen! Your Story Is Vital To The Advancement Of The Kingdom Your testimony is your testimony, nobody else has your story. Critics cannot try to pull it apart and if you have truly been changed by Christ, those around you can speak of those changes. Do not be afraid to tell people your story. God is so good and we need to be screaming it from the rooftops. I encourage all of you to think about your testimony and share it with everyone willing to listen. It may just save a soul! Closing Thoughts: God has a plan for you, God has a plan for everyone around you, your testimony can connect the two in ways you will be amazed by. It does take a certain amount of faith to tell people where you were and the changes that have been made. It is by no means an easy task. Pray the Lord gives you the opportunity and the words to say, then be faithful to allow those words to change the world. Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV) 6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
