Romans 8:1 (NKJV) 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Jesus loves you… no matter what! No matter your past sins, no matter your past disbelief, no matter your previous disobedience… not matter what, period. As Paul puts it, there is no condemnation, none. What tremendous hope that provides for me, for you, and the entire world! Zero condemnation, it is a marvelous thing. But I Was Really Bad! There is hope, there is forgiveness, there is mercy… but here is the thing, the key point… for those who are in Christ Jesus. If you are in Christ Jesus, you are covered by His sacrifice, your sins have been wiped clean. 1 John 1:9 reminds us… (9) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness… Notice John does not list the sins that are forgiven and the ones that are not, he simply says if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive. Think about the worst thing you have ever done, that is forgiven. Notice what is being said in Romans 3:23… (23) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God… If the goal is perfection, any sin makes you fall short of that goal. We have a tendency to grade sin, do we not? Well, I may have cheated on my taxes, but I would never hurt someone physically. God sees it is a much different light, He sees that you have either sinned and fallen short or you haven’t, there is no in-between. If you are struggling with past sin, confess with your mouth, seek God’s forgiveness, and move forward in the mercy God provides. You do not have to live with that burden any longer! Sin Looks Better On Me Than My Neighbor There is true hope from the forgiveness and mercy the Lord has given us. That love and mercy we have been provided must also be poured out upon those around us. To paraphrase the parable of the debtor in Matthew 18, we see a debt being forgiven, then that same person that has been forgiven turns around and does not offer that same mercy to a debtor of his. I know that is way oversimplifying the parable, but you get the point. We oftentimes judge our neighbor for the sins they stumble in while looking in the mirror with little to no conviction. We must wash our heart of such condemnation, their sin is up to the Lord to handle. Move Forward In New Hope Believer, your sins have been forgiven and forgotten. Live in the hope that provides. Those burdens belong to you no longer. Isaiah 43:25 spells out this forgiveness perfectly… (25) “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins." Closing Thoughts: Are you living in the tender mercy God has provided, do you live in true forgiveness of sin? The Lord is ready to forgive all transgressions for those who confess with their lips and truly seeks that forgiveness. Leave the burden of sin in your past where it belongs and move forward in new life! 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
