2 Chronicles 20:12 (NIV) 12 Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
If you are anything like me, each day provides a new situation in which I have no clue how to handle it. I have never experienced an army of enemies closing in on me, but I certainly face spiritual attacks almost every day. I cannot imagine the powerless feeling of being outnumbered and in serious trouble. How do you handle each of your life’s battles? If we adhere to this example, it will be without eyes firmly planted on Him. Life’s Battles, Both Large And Small Each of us faces different battles from one day to the next. Something I struggle with you may not and vice-versa. It can be as simple as a disobedient child, or as complex as family budget problems. Regardless of the scope, we should be setting our eyes on the Lord for the guidance we need to make it through whatever situation we are facing. Obeying Him Through The Battle We are given the example here of faithful believers keeping their eyes upon God. What is our reaction when we face trials and tribulation? Are you a faithful servant that seeks the Lord’s will in everything you do? Are you like me, trying everything you can do until finally giving up and seeking His way? Are you somewhere in between? Most of us probably fall somewhere in the middle. No matter the situation, no matter the trial, no matter the tribulation, we should be seeking His will through it all… and doing so in complete obedience. Seeking His Guidance James 1:5 promises… (5) If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him… We are human, we lack true wisdom, we can think of ourselves as very smart but even our brightest pale in comparison to our great God! Thankfully the Lord promises us that if we ask for wisdom, He will give it to us liberally and without reproach. The key is that we must ask and to ask we must have a genuine relationship with Him to seek His guidance. Set Your Eyes Upon Him! Psalm 119:37 (37) Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your way… This world and everything in it will pass away, His word will never pass away, that is promised to the believer. Everything else is worthless. Our money will fade away, our looks will fade away, everything will eventually fade away, so why would we set our focus on any of those things? If we are faithful in setting our eyes upon Him and Him alone, our journey to our eternal home will never be compromised. The end of our journey, the goal of our walk should be our focus. Closing Thoughts: We live in a world of constant distraction, we live in a world of pride and envy, it is difficult to keep our focus upon Him. We are promised victory if we keep our focus where it should be. Learn to tune out everything that can distract and focus solely upon the Lord! Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
