Running On Empty

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)

31 But those who wait on the Lord

Shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,

They shall run and not be weary,

They shall walk and not faint.

I was driving home yesterday after work and looked down at the dashboard of my truck and the needle was dangerously close to empty. I thought to myself, that is exactly how I feel on Thursday’s. The week has been exhausting, the end is near, but we need the power to push through just those last few hours of the workweek. Sometimes we just need a little boost to get us to the finish line.

Renewal Of Strength!

Psalm 46:1–3 offers us a wonderful reminder… (1) God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. (2) Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; (3) Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah… I am not sure about you, but come this time each week I need refuge, I need strength, how awesome is it that God gives us both! As we go through the struggles of a week, a month, a lifetime, He promises to be a very present help. I think far too often we try to muscle our way through the trouble, through the pain, through the hurt, and confusion, when He was there and will be there the entire time!

It Takes Action

If we are traveling down the road and the gas light comes, we need to take action, right? If we do not take action, we will run out of gas. Our walk with the Lord is very much the same. If we are weary, if we are tired, if we are hurting, we have to seek His face. Philippians 4:6 encourages us… (6) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God… God wants to answer our prayers for strength, He wants to answer our prayer for understanding and wisdom, He wants us to have peace, but we must take action through prayer. Take time to talk to your heavenly Father, let Him know how you feel and what you need.

What A Promise

Through His strength we will mount up with wings like eagles, we shall not run and not be weary, we shall walk and not faint! If you are anything like me, I need that reminder daily, especially Thursday’s and Friday’s. 1 Chronicles 16:11 promises… (11) Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore!

Closing Thoughts:

Are you running on empty? Does It feel like the finish line is miles away? Seek the Lord’s face for His strength to finish this week out strong. The Lord is so faithful, He is so good, He is the answer to our never-ending week!

Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV)

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding;

6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths.
