So You Want To Witness: Be Encouraged

Updated: Jan 4, 2020

Romans 10:9–10 (NKJV)

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Witnessing can be one of the most rewarding adventures God will send us on. When God sends you to witness, He is depending on you to deliver His children back to the Kingdom, He is trusting you with His most prized possession, He is showing supreme confidence that you will hear from Him and seek the Spirit as you set out to save souls for Christ. The importance of this mission cannot be understated.

Deuteronomy 31:8 promises that He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear or be dismayed. As you go out into the world to witness for Christ, do so knowing that the Lord is with you always. If we are doing His work, He is sure to be there for you the entire way, He would not set you up to fail. He wants you to succeed, He knows you will!

In Psalm 23:4 David speaks of walking through the valley of the shadow of death, he proclaims that he will fear no evil, for he knows the Lord is with him. In this situation, David would be validated in fear, but what we see instead is a reassuring faith that his God is greater than the fear within. We may very well have to walk through some pretty scary places to reach the lost… as with David, God will be with us.

Psalm 119:76 provides a great reminder that we should pray for His merciful kindness and comfort. We are most likely going to face at least a little persecution as we spread God’s Word, after all, Jesus himself promised that the world hated Him so they will hate us too. Pray continually for the peace only the Lord can provide.

I will close with a reminder from 2 Timothy 2:15 which says “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” As you prepare to witness always search yourself to make sure you are approved to God, making sure your sound testimony can advance the Kingdom.

Closing Thoughts:

The work is plentiful, but the workers are few. I pray that the Lord provides you with the strength, courage, and wisdom to bring in the harvest of God’s children, returning them home to the delight of our great and merciful God!

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)

13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
