The Dwindling Reach

Matthew 28:19–20 (NKJV)

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

The Great Commission, go forth and make disciples. It is arguably the most important job we have as followers of Christ. This important task has become all the more difficult with social distancing and the threat COVID poses. While the job is difficult, it is still the most important responsibility we have!

Get Creative

Gone are the days when we could just walk up to someone, pass them a tract, and hope they get the message. Now we have to get creative. Thankfully, we live in the digital age and impersonal communication is something we excel at lately. Try posting your favorite verses on Instagram, try tweeting an encouraging thought, or share your favorite devotional on Facebook. There are a number of ways we can still plant seeds for Christ, we just have to get creative.

The Message Is Every Bit As Important Today

Matthew 24:36 reminds us… (36) “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only… It would be very easy as believers to promise to be better about spreading God’s word when COVID disappears, or when we are able to socialize without distance, but tomorrow is not promised.

What If?

Two words that can have a devastating impact on our lives and the lives of those we love are... what… if... “What if I had just told him about Jesus?” Is that a question you want to have to face as you are saying goodbye to a loved one? There are a number of what if’s and every one of them could be avoided if we followed the one request the Lord makes of us, to go and make disciples.

The Lord Is By Our Side

We do not have to do this alone, the Lord promises to be by our side through the whole thing. In Matthew 28:20 the Lord declares… (20) teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen… Amen indeed!

Closing Thoughts:

We are being called to do a very difficult thing, with the promise persecution for doing so, but it is of grave importance that we spread God’s word. We are not promised tomorrow, so we must reach the world today! There is a great promise and a wonderful hope, we must deliver them to a world in desperate need.

Revelation 7:9–12 (NKJV)

9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying:

“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom,

Thanksgiving and honor and power and might,

Be to our God forever and ever.

Amen.”
