The Lord Stood With Me

2 Timothy 4:17 (NKJV)

17 But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also, I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

How many times have we been in Paul’s shoes? Here we see he has been abandoned by his friends, and incriminating words are being spoken of him. Yet, he stands firm in his faith knowing that the Lord is by his side. Oh, we should have such faith!

Whatever We May Go Through

Obviously, in this verse, Paul is talking about witnessing, but it can be easily adapted to our everyday situations. If we are doing something godly, He will stand with us. That time we see an old friend and want to tell them about how the Lord has changed your life, but are struck with fear by the way they may react. Maybe you witness a fellow classmate being bullied, but you are too afraid of what others may think to defend them. Maybe you are going through a tough time at work and just need Him to help you make it through the day. The Lord will be there right next to us. That should be reassuring to us as believers.

Lord Give Me Strength

Philippians 4:13 reminds us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Whatever situation we are facing, we must remember it is not our strength but His that can deliver us. How futile to continue to rely on our own strength when God’s is so much more powerful? I think we sometimes just go through life with the thought “I can get through this.” The truth is however, He is waiting to give us His strength as soon as we ask.

Preach To All The Gentiles

At the core of this message is Paul’s desire to reach the Gentiles that they may be able to hear God’s Word. That is where our heart must be as well. The Lord is going to be by your side, He will deliver to your the strength, all you have to do it have faith that He will be there.

Closing Thoughts:

No matter the situation you are facing today, know that the Lord stands by your side and that you can depend upon His strength. With the Lord and His strength, you can accomplish great things for the advancement of His kingdom!

Isaiah 40:29 (NKJV)

29 He gives power to the weak,

And to those who have no might He increases strength.
