The Walk

1 John 2:6 (NKJV)

6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

We must be Christians that are continually evaluating the way we live. Really evaluate what our walk looks like to the outside world. There are a ton of twists and turns as we navigate life, some we are prepared for while others may seem to come out from nowhere. Our goal during this life should be to walk as He walked.

He Who Says He Abides In Him

If we are professing believers, we should express that we do abide in Him. The world should know where we stand and what we stand for. There should not be any question whether we believe or not. It is also important to recognize that this verse is specifically for the believer. If you are saying that you are a believer, it should push you towards walking in obedience.

Walk As He Walked

If we say we believe, we have one role model, one example, we have only one that we should be imitating. Walk as He walked, that is a tall order. Is that what we are striving to do? Are we living this life as close to Christ as we possibly can? If He is the example, if He is the model, we should be in continual study to be able to replicate His life as closely as possible.

What Would Jesus Do?

Everything in our life, from the friends we keep to the words we speak, should be done with this question in mind. If you look at a situation and can say no Jesus wouldn’t do that, or even if you are not sure whether He would have or not, you probably should avoid that thing or circumstance.

Closing Thoughts:

The phrase “what would Jesus do?” is probably way overused at this point but there is great truth in this question. When we examine the path we are on, we must ask ourselves that very question. Sometimes I find myself asking this multiple times an hour. We must be willing to walk through this life in obedience to Him, what a great role model and example He is!

1 Corinthians 11:1 (NKJV)

1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
