This Is The Day The Lord Has Made

Psalm 118:24 (NKJV)

24 This is the day the Lord has made;

We will rejoice and be glad in it.

It’s Thursday, by this time in the week we find ourselves stressed out and exhausted. The weekly grind is nearing its end and we are looking forward to the weekend. But, we should not just throw away a day like this, we must rejoice and be glad in it. Think about all the things we could be doing with this day.

Be Doers

James 1:22 reminds us… (22) But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves… You have spent time in the Word, you have studied it, now go out and be doers of the Word. Today is the perfect time to show obedience and “do” the Word.

Spread The Gospel

1 Peter 3:15 offers us… (15) But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear… Be ready to spread the Word, let people know why you believe what you believe. Today could be the day you get to bring someone to the saving knowledge of Christ!

Do Good For Others

Hebrews 13:16 (16) But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased… There are people in need all over the place. We must open our eyes and not forget to do good for others. Seek out someone in need today and show them the love of Christ through your caring.

Be Encouraging

Philippians 4:13 encourages… (13) I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me… This verse has brought me great comfort over the years, but how often do we encourage others with it? Remind someone today of the power we have in the Lord.

Be Thankful

Thank the Lord for verses like Philippians 4:6–7 (6) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; (7) and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus… The Lord wants nothing but the best for us. How awesome is that statement? Make sure you thank the Lord today for all that He is doing in you and through you!

Closing Thoughts:

While it may be easy to cast Thursday off as the end of a stressful and busy week, or a stepping stone to the weekend, take full advantage of this day the Lord has made. Live in the moment, the weekend will take care of itself, focus on the impact you can make for the kingdom today.

Colossians 4:5 (NKJV)
