We Have All Fallen Short

Romans 3:23 (NKJV)

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

We have a tendency to compare ourselves to others, do we not? In almost every aspect of life, we compare ourselves in every conceivable way. We compare bank accounts, we compare height and weight, we compare education… we are in a constant state of measure. God sees us in a very different light. God views us as one of two things, saved or unsaved.

Everyone Needs A Savior

John 3:16 (NKJV) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life… We have all fallen short of perfection, whether it be by a small margin or large. If perfection is the hallmark, there is nobody (aside from Jesus) that has lived a perfect life.

What If I Mess Up?

Lamentations 3:22–23 Reminds us of God’s continual forgiveness… (22) Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. (23) They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness… Does this give us a free pass to sin as much as we want? Absolutely not, but it does give us hope!

No matter how hard we try, we cannot always escape our flesh. We are going to mess up on a daily basis. We can either take heart that the Lord provides continual mercy, or we can dwell in our mistakes. Don’t get me wrong, there have been times that I have dwelled in a mistake I had made, but that should not be where we are at all the time. Be disappointed for a time, repent, and get right back up, put your eyes on the Lord and make it your goal to sin less.

God’s Awesome Promise

Romans 5:1–2 (1) Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

We have been justified by faith, not justified by our bank account, our charitable donations, or work… justified by faith! That justification will lead to peace with God, through the Lord Jesus! Now that is something to rejoice about!

Closing Thoughts:

No matter where you find yourself, God finds you acceptable! Can you imagine that? Whatever state we are in, the Lord still loves us and wants us to experience salvation through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus! Like Rocky Balboa, this life is going to continually knock us down, God gives us the strength to get back up, and the guidance to move forward sinning less.

1 John 3:1 (NKJV)

1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
