We Win In The End

John 16:33 (NKJV)

33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

I am not sure about you, but many of us are being beaten up by the world lately. I look around and get a little discouraged as I see small business after small business shut its doors forever. I see people that I have preached to move further and further away from the Lord. We see governments overstretching their control. We see our freedoms start to wither away. We witness financial systems start to breakdown. We are truly in a tough place, but there is great hope! There is something we can place our trust in. Jesus has overcome the world!

God Wants Us To Have Peace

John 14:27 reminds us… (27) Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.... God understands what will happen in the future, He knows all and sees all. The picture that is blurry to us is crystal clear to Him. The question is do we have faith that He has everything under control? Do we truly trust Him with everything? Once we know He has things under control, once we really trust Him, we will be given the peace that He has left us.

Tribulation Promised

It would be wonderful if we were promised sunshine and roses. The truth is however, we are promised tribulation. Unfortunately, we are given this truth in John 15:18… (18) “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you… The world will hate us because it hated Him first. Thankfully there is a great promise ahead!

He Has Overcome

Jesus has defeated death, and in so doing, has guaranteed us victory as well. The story is written, the game is all but over, we win! That is the hope we need to keep ourselves in. We can look around and see all the pain and all the hurt and get discouraged. The harsh reality is that the things we are experiencing are probably not going to change too much during this lifetime. But we can be of good cheer because of the promise of salvation through Jesus!

Closing Thoughts:

Some people go through life like a Roger Clemons 20 strikeout performance, others will go through life like Rocky Balboa. If life is knocking you down over and over, take heart, Jesus has overcome the world! Live in that hope!

Philippians 4:6–7 (NKJV)

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
